A calming, light-based therapy that supports flow, repair, and recovery.
Red light therapy is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that may help support circulation, reduce inflammation, and encourage the body’s natural recovery processes. At Spirit Fingers Massage, I use it as a supportive tool for clients who need a little extra help with soreness, tension, recovery, or overall tissue health.

Red light therapy uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to support cellular function. In simpler terms, it gives the body light energy that may help encourage circulation, tissue repair, and recovery. It’s painless, relaxing, and easy to incorporate into a session.

One of the most talked-about benefits of red light therapy is its ability to support healthy circulation. Better circulation can help deliver oxygen and nutrients to tissues more efficiently, which may support comfort and recovery.
Red light therapy may help:
support healthy blood flow
encourage oxygen and nutrient delivery to tissues
reduce inflammation and swelling
support sore or overworked muscles
ease joint or muscle discomfort
encourage recovery after strain, stress, or physical activity
For many people, this makes it a helpful addition when the body feels tired, inflamed, overworked, or slow to recover.

While I most often think of red light therapy as a support for circulation, recovery, and tissue health, it may also offer benefits for the skin. Some people use it to support collagen production, calm inflammation, and encourage a healthier overall appearance.

Whether you’re seeking pain relief, skin rejuvenation, or support for sluggish energy, red light therapy offers gentle but meaningful support—bridging modern science with traditional healing perspectives.

One of the reasons I love red light therapy is that it bridges both modern research and traditional wellness perspectives.
From a TCM perspective, circulation and healthy flow are deeply connected to how the body feels. When things feel stuck, stagnant, tense, or depleted, discomfort often follows. Red light therapy can be a beautiful support for movement, warmth, and flow in the body.
From an Ayurvedic perspective, it can be seen as a warming, supportive tool that helps nourish the tissues, encourage circulation, and support the body when there is too much coldness, stagnation, or depletion.
From a Western perspective, red and near-infrared light are often discussed in relation to circulation, inflammation, cellular energy, and tissue repair.
That blend is part of why I appreciate it so much. It’s a gentle, supportive tool that can fit beautifully into a more thoughtful, restorative approach to care.

At Spirit Fingers Massage, I use the Celluma device, which offers blue, red, and near-infrared light settings depending on the goal of the session. I chose it because it’s a professional-grade, FDA-cleared device that supports a range of treatment needs, including pain support, skin support, and recovery.

Red light therapy can be added to a massage session or experienced as a stand-alone service.
During a session, the light panel is placed close to the area being treated, and you simply rest while it does its work. Sessions are relaxing, painless, and typically last around 30 minutes. There’s no downtime afterward, which makes it an easy option for many people.

Red light therapy is safe for many people, but it’s still important to check with your provider first in certain situations.
Use extra caution if you:
take photosensitive medications
are pregnant
have had a recent steroid injection
have a history of seizures triggered by light
have active cancerous lesions in the treatment area
Children under 12 should only receive red light therapy under medical supervision.
